Steve and I have our two grandsons with us while their mom and dad go on vacation. That's the reason I'm a little late today. I didn't know that motherhood took so much more time and was this much harder at my age. 🤣😂🤣

We took them miniature golfing, had some dinner and then watched some of the highlights, amazing performances, high-tech images of drones flying, symbolism from doves created, and even some of the most spectacular fireworks I've ever seen from the Opening Ceremonies of the Pyeongchang Olympic Games. The opening and closing ceremonies have always meant a great deal to me from the time I was a child! Watching them once again, took me back to this photo of my Dad handing over the official flame to Donny and me prior to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. My bro and I had a blast being the voices of the dinosaurs (I think that was a compliment 🤣) to performing at the Closing Ceremonies.

It is heartwarming to see in Korea, all the athletes from around the world UNITE in the name of PEACE through sport. When I watch these shows I believe we al dream of a similar world with no divide, where we can celebrate our differences, enjoy harmonious living and interact with each other, and where everybody is a WINNER. But the real key in all this, is to “finish” the race that we have all start!

We’ve all done it! We begin projects with great enthusiasm, get distracted and end up abandoning them. Sometimes we set sincere goals, don’t write them down, do nothing to achieve them and get disappointed in the end. While our intentions may be good:

“… We start strong; we want to be our best self. But in the end we leave our resolutions shredded, discarded, and forgotten. It’s human nature to stumble, fail, and sometimes want to drop out of the race. But as disciples of Jesus Christ, we have committed not only to begin the race but also to finish it—and finish it with our torch still burning brightly.”  (Dieter F. Uchtdorf)

I consider all my grandkids with me this week my Olympic sport—keeping up with them and finishing strong, "enduring to the end" of the week-- as a winner! 😄😂

As we watch the Winter Olympics and cheer on our favorite athletic stars… let us continue to keep up the fight at home, as we carry our torches of brotherly kindness to our neighbors and loved ones. Keep a fervent flame of God's eternal love burning in our hearts… through love, service, kindness and goodwill.

"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."(Matthew 24:13).

Have a blessed #Happy Sunday! 😊♥️
