I’d like you all to meet Kaitlynn; she’s absolutely adorable, and she's my son Matthew’s fiancée! We couldn't love her more!!!♥️
I know many of you met Matthew when he was on the road with me, and I thought you’d like to know. He’s such a wonderful man, and I’m so happy for them☺️
Yesterday was a very special day, family and friends all gathered for Kaitlynn’s bridal shower. 🥰 I had to show you the cute theme she chose, “She’s Been Scooped Up!” And yes, we had ice cream. 🍨🙌😋 Kaitlynn loves ice cream as much as I do, and yes, I believe it’s the fifth food group. 😂
Their story is precious, and it shows that God really is in the details of our lives! He does “know them.” He heard their prayers of faith and manifested His love by helping them find each other. ♥️
This is Kaitlynn‘s mom Jen. We’re two very proud moms!
Last week I wrote about the Lord knowing each one of us by name and that He knows our story. I believe He also helps us create these stories, and as we remember them, we begin to see His tender mercies all around us. Because of the post I did, my friend Donna and I had a great conversation on this topic: how God knows who we are, knows our stories, and truly is in the details—if we stop long enough to look back and recognize His hand.
She told me about a very unique day she recently had. As she went back through her journal and pieced together the events and even the times they occurred, she realized the many little decisions had fallen into place to bring her safety that day. What might have seemed like coincidences at the time looked very different when she saw them all together. She could see the Lord’s hand throughout it. Of course, she laughed and said He probably has to keep an especially close eye on her since she’s a terrible driver! 😂 I told her you may laugh, but I agree! Then we both laughed; we have a very similar sense of humors
But seriously, as we’ve studied the Old Testament this year, I’ve realized how often the word “remember” is woven into the stories I’ve read. And one thing I’ve realized about the Old Testament is that so many of these are simply stories about families. They probably didn’t think their everyday lives were particularly noteworthy, yet here we are, thousands of years later, still learning from them.
And so are our lives.
I’ve decided to go back through my journals and the scriptures I use as a journal, use a healthy amount of prayer, and hopefully remember some of those special times I didn’t write down. Then I’m going to pinky promise myself that, going forward, I’ll live with a greater attitude of gratitude and take the time every day to write down where I have seen the Lord’s hand in my life
Because miracles don’t have to be seismic, like the parting of the Red Sea, to qualify, they can be as small as finding something that was lost—good luck finding your rings, Donna! 🙏😂—
What I do know is that hearing other people recount the times they’ve seen God's hand in their lives is faith-promoting. It helps me recognize His hand in mine.
So today I would love for you to share one of your stories about a time when God’s love manifested itself in your life. Big or small! You can post them in the comments on my social media. I think hearing each other’s stories can give us all greater insight on this Sabbath day and help us to “remember” Him.
Have a great day and remember, I love you all very much!😘
